Same reasons why anyone has a car: To transport people and things across great distances with minimum physical effort.

I live in a medium size city and I have a car, HD pickup , and a motorcycle.

With the exception of a single airline flight over a decade ago, I have not once stepped foot on public transit in any form. I f I didn’t have motorized vehicles I’d get where I need to go with a bicycle (which I often do anyway).
